However, you don’t need to be raking in millions just from flipping your hair in a shampoo commercial in order to enjoy holidays in destinations favoured by the stars. So, where can you go this summer 2013 to mingle with the rich and famous? Well, I can’t guarantee you entry to any of the exclusive parties, but there are a few places where you’re likely to spot a few celebs roaming about. And if not? Just don a pair of sunglasses and exude an air of mystery to make others think you’re a VIP.
Do It Like…Beyonce & Jay-Z: Cuba
The Carters have come under fire from all angles recently for choosing to spend their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba, the Caribbean island with notoriously tense ties with both Beyonce and Jay-Z’s native United States. What about the island attracted them? Soaked in sunshine, Cuba has a whole heap to offer. The bustling nightlife of its capital city, Havana; the ritzy resorts and A-list beaches of Varadero; the UNESCO world heritage site of Trinidad. Cuba packs a punch, so who can really blame the music industry’s power couple for enjoying the island?
Do It Like…Shakira: Cape Town
It seems like Shakira’s really taken a shine to South Africa! Not content with recording the official song for the 2010 World Cup, Shakira was snapped on holiday last summer in Cape Town. While she may not be off again this year, having recently given birth to baby Milan, The Voice USA judge was no doubt captivated by the vibrant V.A. Waterfront with its glamorous mix of shops, bars and restaurants, rich cultural mix, and surrounding natural beauty of the city, a safe alternative to dodgy Johannesburg and Durban for a city break in South Africa.

The Collateral and Minority Report star may not be having the easiest time of things recently, what with his high-profile divorce from Katie Holmes, yet that didn’t stop him jaunting off to Iceland to celebrate his fiftieth birthday in style. The island nation in the North Atlantic boasts an array of options for the holidaymaker that belies its small stature. Bird watchers and lovers of all things cute will go nuts for Dyrholaey, home to rocks with hundreds if not thousands of puffins. The capital city of Reykjavik has reinvented itself as one of the coolest hangouts in Europe, with flights to Iceland departing from most major European airports. Those who are a bit more adventurous may even opt to try a whale burger, but make sure you push those thoughts of Free Willy out of your head if you choose to do so.
Do It Like…Rihanna: Miami
The Barbadian beauty isn’t shy about showing off her curves, and where better to do it than in super sexy Miami? Maybe you won’t want to indulge in all the activities that Rihanna’s been getting up to lately as they’re not all, well, legal in the state of Florida and I wouldn’t want you to getting into any trouble with local law authorities or U.S. customs. Lincoln Road is the place to be if you want to go shopping or dine outside, and Ocean Drive between 15th and 11th street is the best spot to sip a cocktail and people watch at South Beach. Or simply just go to the beach itself and come back with a golden tan that’ll leave you feeling a million dollars.
