Ringling in Bloom: Floral Arrangements Inspired by Masterpieces

Flowers at Ringling Museum

I love flowers. I love museums. So when I heard that Sarasota’s Ringling Museum of Art having a special four-day exhibit (“Ringling in Bloom”, Feb. 3—6) showcasing 24 floral arrangements inspired by the masterpieces, I was instantly intrigued. The results blew me away — the effect was amazing, as it felt like the art had truly come to life. Each floral designer had been assigned a work of art and it was up to them how they wanted to interpret it. Some chose flowers that matched the colors in the painting; others tried to replicate part of the painting through the bouquet.

Below are some photos of the exhibit… I only wish more museums did this!

The floral arrangements are beautiful. My sunshinemamas and I are all big fans of the Ringling Bros Circus. I have not been to the museum in Sarasota, but it’s on my list for places to go in Florida. We did a circus ticket give away in Miami and had PETA protest against us. FUNNY! Take care and nice post.

  2. I love museums too 🙂 so pretty how they incorporated the flowers with the art- I’ve never seen that done before. Is the Ringling name for the museum the same as the people that do the circus?
