The Dutch are fun every day of the year, but they’re extremely fun on King’s Day. King’s Day (or Koningsdag), the biggest national holiday in Holland, can be described as a citywide yard sale and street party rolled into one. For those of you who keep a Bucket List, this countrywide celebration is one that you don’t want to miss… I know I’d love to go and wear as much orange as possible (the national color).

Ten lucky American winners, who took part in a special competition organized by KLM and Heineken, were treated to the ultimate Orange Experience on King’s Day in Amsterdam this year. The ultimate surprise came when DJ Armin van Buuren jumped on board their party boat to give them an hour‑long private performance! Some of the Dutch onlookers may have been a tad jealous, although most were too busy partying to feel any envy.
