I’ve always wanted to visit Singapore, so I was very excited by this list of what to do I only had 24 hours there. Frequently, I find myself without a lot of time to explore a destination, and this is an excellent guest post of the greatest hits of Singapore.
Singapore is one of the most exciting places to visit in all of Asia, with its mix of incredible architecture, great restaurants and modern energy. If you’re visiting for 24 hours and want to experience everything that Singapore has to offer, then below is a plan for the perfect day.
8 AM – Breakfast at Dean & Deluca
Dean & Deluca in Orchard Central is a perfect place to start your day. The NYC chain first opened its doors in 2012 and over the last couple of years has become a favourite with locals and tourists alike. They offer a great selection of breakfast dishes including eggs iberico, green tea muffins, oatmeal flapjacks and French toast.
10 AM – Visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre
If you want to enrich your visit to Singapore, then a visit to the Chinatown Heritage Centre is a must. You will get to walk through faithfully recreated street scenes, kitchens and bedrooms from the late 19th century, which makes for an incredible chance to experience Singapore’s history in all its glory.
12 PM – Lunch at The Verandah
After experiencing the Chinatown Heritage Centre, you’ll no doubt be ready for lunch. One of the best places to have lunch in Singapore is The Verandah, at the Singapore Polo Club. Don’t worry – you don’t have to be a member of the club to eat at the restaurant; non-members are welcome every weekday. The Verandah serve a mix of Western and Asian cuisine with dishes on offer including crispy cereal prawns, tandoori chicken pizza and caprese di bufala.
2 PM – Visit the Botanic Gardens
The Singapore Botanic Garden is a perfect place to spend part of your afternoon. The beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere are what makes the Botanical Gardens popular with everyone from dog walkers and joggers to tai chi and meditation practitioners. There are few places in Singapore where you’ll get to experience its true beauty like this.
4 PM – Take a ride on the Singapore Flyer
To get a great view of Singapore’s spectacular skyline, take a ride on the Singapore Flyer. As one of the world’s largest observation wheels, one ride is 30 minutes long—and during that time, you’ll be able to get some fantastic pictures of the surrounding areas.
6 PM – Dinner at Sky on 57
For the last meal of the day, why not do things in style? Sky on 57 is one of the world’s tallest sky-high restaurants, as recently featured in this article, and offers great food as well as panoramic views of the cityscape and bay below. The menu at Sky on 57 is made up of traditional Asian cuisine with a modern twist and prepared by world-renowned chef, Justin Quek.
8 PM – End the day at Night Safari
Night Safari was the world’s first night zoo when it was opened in 1991. It gives you a chance to observe more than 130 species of nocturnal animals, thanks to special lighting techniques. You can go on the safari by tram, which lasts approximately 45 minutes and will let you observe lions, hippos and leopards.
