Airport hassles? Travel Mishaps? KLM is #Happytohelp

KLM set up #happytohelp HQ at Amsterdam airport to help stressed-out travelers.
In a few days, I’ll be flying for the first time with two children! It will be the baby’s first flight. Sure I’m a seasoned traveler, but I’d be lying to say I wasn’t a little nervous. The flight is the least of what I’m worried about. I’m concerned about the hassle of packing, leaving the house on time, fighting the traffic to the airport, getting all of the baby gear through security, entertaining two kids before boarding and then setting up the carseats on the plane. I’m exhausted just thinking about all that hassle.

To help stressed out air travelers, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines set up a #Happytohelp headquarters in Schiphol Plaza in Amsterdam Airport for five days. They scoured social media (especially Twitter) to see what people were complaining about and then tried to help them. And people love to complain on social media! KLM even helped people who weren’t flying their airline and weren’t in Amsterdam. The coolest thing that they did (in this New Yorker’s opinion) was to send a speedboat to pick up a guy stuck in traffic and ferry him down the Hudson. That guy seemed pretty happy.

I only wish that they were still helping people… I might need it on Friday!
