My friends Rachel Sterling and Jeremy Sharff have just returned from a trip to Singapore and and have come home singing the praises of the awesome Singapore Zoo, which is a top tourist attraction that they say is a must-visit for any first-timer to Singapore.
"The zoo is huge," Rachel says, "boasting the big name animals like Asian elephants, White Tigers and more monkeys than you can throw a stick at. But they also have lesser-known animals from Africa and Asia."
Although they went during the day, Rachel recommends that you do the popular Night Safari option. Reservations are required for this, and it's best to try to book at least three days in advance so you're not disappointed. Not only can you enjoy the zoo in cooler weather (Singapore days tend to be very hot and humid!), but you can also relax on the tram and not have to walk the full expanse of the enormous zoo.
I'll admit that not having been to Singapore, I hadn't heard much about this world-famous zoo and was a tad skeptical at first. I mean, it's just a zoo, right? But Rachel and Jeremy went on a safari in South Africa for their honeymoon, so they know animals. And as soon as I saw these incredible zoo photos, I could see why it's so popular with tourists and locals alike. Hairy Asian elephants, Probiscus monkeys with oversize noses, playful rhinos and more!
