I like Super Bowl Sunday but I must confess that watching the game is my least favorite part. I'm more about hanging out with friends and watching the commercials. This year I thought that the clear commercial winner was HomeAway.com, a vacation rental service. (I'm a big fan of their subsidiary, VRBO.com, which I even used to book a condo for my recent trip to Park City.)
HomeAway.com called upon Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo to reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold, everyone's favorite travelers that have a knack for getting themselves into ridiculous situations. In this adventure, they have a nightmarish experience at a terrible hotel, where they stay in the Napoleon Suite with low ceilings. My favorite part is when an angry Chevy Chase blusters "You've even charged me for the complimentary water!" The guy behind the desk responds, "See, that's complementary water with an 'e'. The water complements the room; it's not free."
This mini-film, Hotel Hell Vacation, appears below in two parts and is a bit longer than what aired during the Super Bowl. Of course, Rusty and HomeAway save the day in the end.
