San Juan Marriott Resort Runs a Cool Contest on Twitter

A lot of hotels are on Twitter, and as a travel blogger, I follow a lot of them. Not only are they great contributors to the Twitter-wide travel conversation, but sometimes they offer Twitter-only deals. Starting tomorrow morning (Monday, Dec. 21st), the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is doing something a little different by offering a pretty cool “scavenger hunt” contest and will be giving away 5 two-night stays at the hotel.

Beginning Monday, @SanJuanMarriott will tweet a holiday item at 10:00 am EST each of the five days leading up to Christmas. The first day of the search, the first follower who replies to @SanJuanMarriott with a picture (via TwitPic, Tweetphoto or otherwise) of the item will receive a complimentary 2-night stay at the hotel. The second day of the scavenger hunt (Dec. 22nd), the second person to submit a photo of the item will receive a 2-night stay; the third day will be the third person, and so on. And yes, the fifth day is on Christmas Day, but I have a feeling that a lot of Twitter diehards won’t be taking the day off for the holiday. Also, you have to be following the hotel @SanJuanMarriott to be eligible to win any prize.

One of the reasons why I like this promotion is because as long as you submit a photo every day for all five days, you get a free upgrade on your next visit to the hotel during 2010. So, if you think you might be visiting Puerto Rico this year, you don’t want to miss out on this one. I haven’t actually been to this hotel, but it looks very nice on the website, as Marriott resorts to tend be. And San Juan is a great destination. I went there on a college spring break and loved it. You’ve got the beach, nightlife and the beautifully preserved area of Old San Juan.

By the way, if you are not following Travelogged on Twitter, please do so! And if you are following me but I am not following you, please let me know by dropping me @ message. Thanks!
