I wasn’t expecting any entertainment at when I reached the Seven Sisters Waterfall in Grenada — just making it down there without face-planting into the mud seemed like reward enough. (This was the first time I’ve ever needed a walking stick when hiking.) The rain forest managed to be even more humid than the rest of the island and I couldn’t wait to jump into the waterfall pool. OK, fine, I mean climb gingerly into the waterfall pool.

I crossed over the creek to get to the main area, snapping photos nonstop as usual. Before I could get ready for my swim, a guy approached me and introduced himself as Super Butterfly and asked me if I wanted him to do a backflip off the waterfall, saying that would be something good to take a picture of. Then he pointed to the green box (pictured above) and explained that a tip was part of the deal.

Well, Superfly definitely earned his tip! The way he scaled up the rock to get to the upper waterfall was amazing — he did it so quickly and gracefully. Then, after a brief display of showmanship he did a backflip into the water. I’m no Olympic diving judge but it looked pretty good to me. Then after another bout of showmanship, he dove into the lower pool. I regret not having a video camera, but the photos should give you a good idea of Superfly and the two-tiered impeccable waterfall.
