Calling all brides on a budget: the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is giving away five free weddings through the Bahamas Bridal Bailout contest. Each "Bahamas Dream Wedding" includes flowers, a photographer, a wedding cake and a wedding planner. This means that if you win, your biggest problem may be transporting the wedding gown. Perhaps the best part is that each prize also features roundtrip airfare and four days/three nights deluxe hotel accommodations for 10 (including the marrying couple). That's important during this recession when it may be more difficult than ever for guests to attend a destination wedding.
To enter the contest, applicants must submit either a video or an essay with a photo between March 20th and April 24th . Whichever route you go, your application must cover how you met, your proposal and why you want to get married in the Bahamas. Couples who are already married but want to renew their vows can apply too. The entries will then be on view at www.bahamasbridalbailout.com so they can be voted on by the public; judges will choose five winners out of the top 20 vote-getters.
The contest is only open to residents of the great 48 — sorry Alaska. (Hawaii, you probably don't even care.) For more details, click here.
