When Marla Decker first arrived at the couples-only Pocono Palace, which is part of Caesars Pocono Resorts in Marshall Creek, PA, she wasn't sure if she was going to like it. She found the "Land of Love" welcome sign and the heart-shaped tubs a bit much. But she soon discovered that there were plenty of fun activities — both indoor and out — that were all included in the price. Both Marla and her husband, Erik, had a great weekend and recommend the hotel for couples who are looking to spend some quality time together.
Favorite Activities: We had a blast playing the adult-rated version of the Newlywed game. They also had an arcade, pool tables, basketball and racquetball. For outdoor activities, we enjoyed snowmobiling and a hike along the nature trail.
Rooms: We stayed in a Roman Tower suite — it had a champagne glass—shaped whirlpool bathtub that stayed amazingly warm for hours. We recommend booking at least a "Garden of Eden Apple" level room or you may be disappointed by your accommodations.
Budget Tips: The room rates can be expensive ($250—$500, less for midweek) but they do include all activities plus dinners and breakfast (which can be served in bed). You can book a cheaper room but then don't expect it to have all of the bells and whistles. We found alcohol to be reasonably priced. What's great about a getaway to the Poconos is that it's not a far drive from the NYC-area, which saved us the cost of a flight.
Advice for Future Travelers: Don't forget to pack your robes. That was the only thing our suite was lacking.
